Frequently Asked Questions –

Our Workshops

We offer prevention workshops to youth and adults throughout BC and beyond.

FAQs

Are the workshops delivered in-person or online?

We offer both in-person and virtual workshops. In-person sessions take place at your school or at another location of your choice. Virtual sessions are typically delivered on Zoom.

For children and youth, we recommend in-person workshops whenever possible, as they tend to be more engaging and effective.

How long is the workshop?

Youth workshops are 60 minutes, including time for questions. Adult presentations vary in length and are typically 1 to 2 hours.

How many students can attend a workshop?

We can present to groups of any size, from a single class to a grade-wide or school-wide assembly.

You know your students best and can choose the format that works well for them. If you would like guidance, please contact us.

Can I book more than one workshop?

Yes. We can facilitate up to 3 workshops in one day. If your school requires more than three sessions, we can schedule multiple dates, depending on availability.

When should I book a workshop for my school or group?

We accept booking requests year-round. Our schedule often fills up quickly during the school year, so we recommend booking as early as possible.

Do you also offer presentations for parents and service providers?

Yes, we offer three:

Keeping Kids Safe Online helps parents, caregivers and professionals support children’s online safety in an ever-changing digital world.

It Can Happen to Anyone (ITCHA) provides community members, social service providers, and other youth-serving professionals with practical information to help prevent child sexual exploitation and support young people who have been affected.

Both of these workshops can be booked for PACs, parent groups, and professional development days.

Finally, Human Trafficking 101 is a competency-based training program that equips frontline social service professionals with the skills to identify and address human trafficking risks affecting children and youth.

How much do the workshops cost?

Our youth workshops, TCO2 (Taking Care of Ourselves, Taking Care of Others), Safer Space, and Stand Up, Speak Out, as well as our adult workshops, It Can Happen to Anyone and Keeping Kids Safe Online, are offered free of charge.

As a charitable program, we gratefully accept honorariums.

Human Trafficking 101 is a competency-based training course that costs $60 per person.

Can you travel to schools and communities outside of the Lower Mainland?

Yes. We can travel to communities throughout B.C. For locations outside the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley, hosts are asked to cover travel and accommodation costs. Virtual workshops are also an effective option for communities beyond our main service area.

What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy?

We do our best to deliver all scheduled workshops as planned. In rare cases, such as facilitator illness or other unforeseen circumstances, a workshop may need to be rescheduled. Whenever possible, we will arrange an alternate facilitator.

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide as much notice as possible so we can offer the workshop opportunity to another school or group.

Are there resources to help teachers prepare students for the workshop?

Yes. Preparing students ahead of time can help them get the most out of the workshop and contribute to a safer, more meaningful learning experience.

Because we discuss sensitive topics, we recommend having a brief classroom conversation in the days leading up to the presentation, so students know what to expect and where to seek support if needed.

You can find conversation starters and additional resources on our teacher resource page.

Do you accept honorariums?

Yes. As a charitable program, we rely on community support to offer our workshops free of charge. Honorariums are always appreciated and help us continue this work.
