This website is managed by PLEA Community Services Society of BC (PLEA) in partnership with our web services provider. The web services provider is a 3rd party agency that helps design, develop, host and maintain the website. Our agreements with our web services provider contain a non-disclosure clause pertaining to any sensitive information they are privy to while providing services to PLEA. PLEA respects the privacy of every individual – a premise we employ in our interactions whether they be in person or online. This page explains PLEA’s approach and commitment to respecting the privacy of our website users, what type of information we collect from our visitors, and how we use that information.
Information we collect about you and how we use it
PLEA does not collect personally identifiable information from individuals unless they provide it voluntarily and knowingly. If a visitor submits their contact details through this site, PLEA uses these details for the purpose of providing the information requested only.
Cookies and Google Analytics
We analyze cookies using Google Analytics which helps us see what areas of our website are most popular, and what areas of our site need to be improved. Access to Google Analytics is restricted to PLEA, and our web services provider who provide technical support to PLEA in managing its websites.
Google Analytics uses IP addresses to provide and protect the security of the service, and to give website owners a sense of the geographical location of their users. So, when you visit this website, we can determine the general location from which you are visiting. This information helps us diagnose any problems that may arise with the server and adds to the basic statistical information we have on visitor traffic. These IP addresses are not associated with any personally identifiable information.
If you prefer to keep your site usage private, Google has created a browser add-on that blocks sites from keeping track of your interactions. You can download and install this add-on here. We also recommend that users regularly clear their cache, use a VPN and use the safe browsing mode provided by modern browsers.

When a user donates through this site the resulting data is captured in our fundraising system, which is provided by DonorPerfect who has access to the information submitted. This data is physically hosted in Quebec by DonorPerfect’s partner, AWS Canada, who facilitate access from Toronto and Vancouver. This complies with the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
The donation itself is processed by processing tools that come with DonorPerfect. A secure connection is established and the information is encrypted to prevent interception during the transaction. This secure connection is maintained until the transaction is completed or terminated. The software that enables these processes is routinely updated to maximize protection of the information.
